As believers in Jesus Christ and of God’s Holy Word, we believe that we are to live a life of service towards others. To love our neighbor above ourselves and to commit ourselves to love others the way Jesus does. There are many ways we put this into practice.
School-wide we are intentional about partnering with our families for the success of our students and overall school health. Students have a front-row seat to witnessing families serve the school by donating their time, resources, encouragement, prayer, and sometimes financial support. As a school, we are proud to be a part of a school family that is willing to support our local community and help families in need.
At the elementary level, students are shown how they can support and love one another inside and outside of the classroom. Our students participate in our student-led fundraiser – Castle Quest. This fundraiser is a way for students to play an active role in the fundraising and sponsorship of our school community. They also participate in volunteer opportunities throughout the year and are encouraged to take part in our annual market day each fall. We are always amazed at how even the youngest of our River Oak family serve and love others so well.
Middle school students participate in weekly small groups and chapel. They take on writing a biblical message once a year to share with their peers and take a personal discipleship class where they are taught the spiritual disciplines and what it looks like to walk as a believer each day. All middle schoolers rotate volunteering their after-school time to help with safety patrol and to serve at school functions.
Our 8th graders also take on a mentorship role to our 6th and 7th graders where they have actively disciple those around them and show how their faith has become their own.
Helping one another and showing love and encouragement to all is what we believe sets River Oak apart from the rest. We hope you will come and join in on our story.
