BIBLE
Curriculum Source: Bible Replay
River Oak Christian Academy views the Bible as an integral part of each of the curriculum’s components. The Word of God is integrated throughout the instruction as well as when interacting with students in and out of the classroom. River Oak Christian Academy has chosen a Bible curriculum that provides opportunities for students to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. Throughout the lessons, there are specific examples for students to apply Bible truths to their daily lives. Class discussions include ministering to others and serving others as Christ would do.
COMMUNICATION ARTS

River Oak Christian Academy develops communication arts skills with a phonics-based reading approach. The curriculum is rich in reading and writing skills to develop lifelong learners to be effective communicators. Our vision is to equip our students to be able to read and understand the Word of God and to communicate the gospel through speaking and writing.
The English curriculum for each grade level includes components of Writing Projects, Study & Reference Skills, and Listening & Speaking Skills.
For Spelling, the students complete assignments relating to word patterns and generalizations. Teachers then give a weekly assignment that summarizes the skills for the week in the form of a writing assignment rather than traditional spelling tests.
The Reading program incorporates a variety of genres for all grade levels. Students are involved with reading activities that develop literal, interpretive, critical, and appreciative levels of reading comprehension. Each reading selection also includes an emphasis on biblical truths. Students are given opportunities to develop fluency through silent and oral reading. Students are challenged to higher critical thinking skills to determine the author’s message, read for understanding, and connect to personal experiences.
MATHEMATICS

At River Oak Christian Academy, mathematics is taught from the ideals that the absolute nature of mathematics reflects the dependable attributes of God, including orderliness, precision, and consistency.
SCIENCE

Through the study of science, students build a foundation of scientific thinking and begin to understand a Creationist perspective of the world. Science encompasses the physical world that God created, and throughout the science curriculum, the instruction revolves around the character and integrity of God. The Science curriculum for each grade level includes components in General Science, Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. Students learn that God controls every physical action and reaction and all concepts will be studied in the light of the Word of God.
SOCIAL STUDIES

The Bible is the Source of truth and reveals to us the nature of man and reveals the nature of truth. Through the Social Studies curriculum, the students will develop a Christian worldview of the family, community, America, and the world. Students at each grade level will gain knowledge of political figures that influenced history and how his/her relationship with God affected events in time.
The Social Studies curriculum for each grade level includes components in Geography, American History, Government, Economics, and Culture.
